The Legislative Yuan passes the revised Road Traffic Control and Punishment Statute.

Dr. Arthur A. Kimball, former director of the U.S. International Training Agency for International Development, calls on T.Y. Chao, chairman of the Vocational Assistance Commission For Retired Servicemen, on behalf of the U.S. Rockefeller Foundation.

A Thai delegation arrives to discuss the Republic of China's purchase of maize from that country.

12. Madame Chiang Kai-shek and Premier Chiang Ching-kuo send gifts to prison inmates to be amnestied July 14.

13. A concert is held at the Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall in memory of the late President Chiang Kai-shek on the eve of the 100th day after his passing.

Julio Osvaldo Mosquera Cordoba, director of Panama's Industrial Development and Production Center, arrives for a 10-day visit.

23. Dr. Liang Kao-shu, vice chair man of the Administrative Research and Evaluation Commission, Executive Yuan, is appointed deputy governor of the Central Bank of China.

25. Homero Hernandez Almanzer, director of International Organizations and Conferences of the Dominican Republic's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, arrives for a week's visit.

26. The newly built southern portion of the Suao-Hualien railroad is opened to traffic.

Major Gen. Li Chang-hao spokes man of the Ministry of National Defense, discloses that the Chinese and U.S. navies held a joint exercise off Kaohsiung in mid-July.

27. The 17-day National Reconstruction Seminar begins with 134 scholars and experts attending.

28. The Sino-Arabian Cultural and Economic Association is established.

30. A Chinese swimming team returns from the Sixth Asian Age Group Swimming Championships in Korea with 7 gold, 16 silver and 9 bronze medals.

Colombia's naval training ship Glory arrives at Keelung for a five day visit.

10. A Boeing 707 of China Airlines lands in Japan on its way to the U.S., signaling an end to the rupture of flights by national flag carriers of the two countries.
